Adeleke Boasts Of Defeating Oyebamiji Before 4 PM

April 29, 2026 — Osogbo —
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed strong confidence in his re-election bid for the August 15 governorship election.
In a post shared on his X handle, Adeleke declared that candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Bola Oyebamiji and former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, would be defeated long before the close of polls.
Adeleke said the opposition was already aware of its declining popularity in Osun State and that the election would be a mere formality for his party.
“Both Oyetola and Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) of the APC are afraid of the upcoming election in Osun and I am certain we will defeat them before 4pm on August 15,” he wrote.
He referenced internal polling data, claiming that his administration enjoys overwhelming support from the electorate, with his approval ratings consistently between 68 and 72 percent.
According to Adeleke, the opposition’s own polls, conducted from late 2025 to March 2026, show their popularity below 30 percent.
Adeleke emphasized that the people of Osun are firmly behind his administration and his party, ACCORD, calling the upcoming election a “formality.”
The Governor’s remarks come as both the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC intensify their political campaigns ahead of the election.
Adeleke recently approved a 52-member campaign structure known as the Imole Campaign Council 2026, which is tasked with coordinating his re-election strategy.
The campaign council will handle voter mobilisation, political outreach, and campaign planning across the state’s constituencies and wards.
The council is chaired by Prof. Wale Ladipo, with Senate Minority Leader Kamorudeen Oyewumi serving as Director General, and Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information, as Deputy Director General.
Adeleke’s political opponents in the APC, including Oyebamiji, have consolidated their position for the upcoming election, with Oyebamiji emerging as the party’s governorship candidate through a consensus process.
Oyebamiji, who leads the AMBO political movement, has pledged to prioritize poverty reduction, healthcare reform, and infrastructural development if elected.
Adeleke, despite the APC’s efforts, remains confident that his administration’s performance and the support of the electorate will ensure a decisive victory.
Adeleke said the outcome of the election is already clear and that his administration’s record will secure his re-election.
