Mudryk Appeals Four-Year Doping Ban to CAS, Eyes Comeback

April 29, 2026 — London —
Chelsea winger, Mykhailo Mudryk, has taken his fight against a four-year doping ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland.
The 25-year-old has been sidelined from competitive play since November 2024, following an “adverse finding in a routine urine test.”
This led to a provisional suspension and a formal charge by the Football Association (FA) in June 2025.
The FA handed Mudryk a four-year ban, though the details of the case remain undisclosed.
With backdated suspensions typically taking effect from the start of the provisional ban, Mudryk’s return would be set for December 2028.
However, Mudryk is appealing the decision, with hopes of returning to action as early as next season.
A statement from CAS confirmed that the appeal was filed on February 25, 2026.
Written submissions are currently being exchanged, but a hearing has not yet been scheduled.
Sources close to Mudryk revealed that he came into contact with meldonium, a cardiovascular medication that enhances stamina, during his time with the Ukraine national team in October 2024.
The winger, who joined Chelsea for £61m in January 2023, has not played since his suspension.
In his only public statement following the suspension, Mudryk expressed “complete shock” and maintained he had “never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules.”
Mudryk is being defended by Morgan Sports Law, the same firm that represented Paul Pogba, Tyson Fury, and Chris Froome in their doping cases.
He is reportedly determined to return to football this year, training with Uxbridge FC while working with a private coach and goalkeepers.
Chelsea has declined to comment, and the FA said it cannot discuss an ongoing case.
Mudryk’s legal team has also been contacted for a response.
