Tinubu Appoints Gbajabiamila, Masari

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Special Adviser on Political Matters, Ibrahim Masari, to oversee the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections for National Assembly positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The move positions both senior aides at the forefront of efforts to coordinate and monitor the APC’s primaries for Senate and House of Representatives seats.

This step is widely seen as part of a broader strategy to ensure transparency, internal cohesion, and a smooth process within the ruling party.

Sources within the party indicate that the president’s decision places emphasis on his determination to maintain tight control over the APC’s internal electoral procedures, especially in light of increasing political realignments and early jockeying for positions ahead of 2027.

The inclusion of high-ranking officials from the Presidency is also expected to boost confidence among party stakeholders and aspirants.

Preparations for the 2027 elections have already begun, with consultations, alignments, and mobilisation taking place across several states.

Gbajabiamila and Masari’s supervision is expected to streamline the conduct of the primaries and address potential conflicts before they escalate.
