Workers’ Day: There Can Never Be Development Without You — Bibire Salutes Workers, Praises Makinde

Leading House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Federal Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro Bibire has congratulated Nigerian workers, especially those in Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Federal Constituency, for their sacrifices, grit, and immeasurable contributions to nation building.

He stated this in a statement he signed and issued to Polity Reporters in commemoration of 2026 Workers’ Day.

In the statement, he said workers remain the spine of national growth and that no meaningful development can take place without their daily efforts.

He dished out, “Workers across different sectors wake up every day to keep the system running, from offices to markets, from schools to hospitals, and these efforts are what continue to keep the economy breathing and moving forward for the benefit of all.”

He stressed that the duty of workers in driving the economy and supporting both public and private institutions is fundamental to national progress, as without it, growth would come to a standstill.

“Every structure of development rests on the commitment of workers who give their time, strength, and knowledge to ensure that services reach the people and that the nation continues to grow in all areas,” he stated.

He, therefore, urged workers not to relent in their efforts, noting that their contributions remain essential to building a stronger, more stable and safer Nigeria.

He accentuated, “Even in the face of challenges, the determination displayed by workers continues to drive progress, and this resolve remains sine quo non in reaching greater successes as a nation.”

He also praised Governor Seyi Makinde for the strides made to improve the welfare of workers in Oyo State, through the timely payment of salaries, regular pensions, support allowances, and policies that promote better working conditions, confessing that the workers have never had it this good in living memory.

“Governor Seyi Makinde, with his timely payment of salaries, proper care for pensioners, introduction of support measures, and sustained attention to workers’ welfare, has created a better environment where workers can be more productive and carry out their duties with heightened morale,” he noted.

He, however, reiterated his commitment to supporting policies and actions that will improve the welfare, remuneration, and working conditions of Nigerian workers at all levels.

He said, “Support for workers remains a priority for me because improved welfare leads to better performance, and better performance strengthens the growth and stability of the nation.”

He concluded by praying for all workers that their labour will never be in vain but will yield the fruits of their honest toil, while wishing them a happy, fulfilling, and rewarding new month of May.

“Let me conclude by praying for every worker, that they may continually reap the fruits of their labour, and may this new month open doors to answered prayers, holistic progress, peace all around, and greater opportunities for all,” he submitted.
