Trump Claims U.S. Has CIA Presence in Cuba, Promises Support for “Freeing” Cuban People

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States maintains intelligence presence in Cuba and pledged his administration will support efforts to “free” the Cuban people.

Trump claimed the U.S. has significant operational knowledge of Cuba through intelligence networks and expertise within his administration.

He specifically mentioned the CIA’s involvement and suggested that Secretary Rubio’s Cuban background provides additional insight.

“We have a lot of people in Cuba. We have the CIA there. @SecRubio is from there, so we have a lot of expertise,” Trump said, underscoring the administration’s claimed capabilities.

The president added that the U.S. would take actions to assist the Cuban people and foster political change in the country.

“We’re going to help the Cuban people out. We’re freeing up Cuba,” Trump declared, signaling a continuation of Washington’s pressure on Havana.

Some international observers expressed concern that Trump’s remarks could escalate tensions between the U.S. and Cuba, raising fears of renewed diplomatic conflict.

Social media users were divided, with supporters praising Trump’s stance as bold and necessary for human rights, while critics accused him of overstepping and risking international backlash.

Political analysts suggested that the statement may be more rhetorical than actionable, aimed at appealing to Trump’s base and signaling firmness on foreign policy.
