ADC Chieftain Alleges NDC Alignment with Tinubu, APC

Kenneth Okonkwo, a senior member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is closely aligned with President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okonkwo made the statement during an interview while addressing questions about the formation of the NDC and its ties to opposition leaders.
He alleged that the party’s registration followed a meeting between its national leader, Seriake Dickson, and President Tinubu.
He further claimed that the NDC was established to lure Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi into joining its ranks.
The former spokesperson for Obi’s presidential campaign stated that the NDC was initially deemed unqualified for registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said the party only gained official recognition through a court ruling.
“NDC is essentially Tinubu’s and the APC’s political project. Peter Obi is now even more trapped,” Okonkwo said.
He added, “They were not supposed to be registered until I heard from Obidients about a meeting between Dickson and Tinubu, and then the NDC was registered.
“After the registration, INEC said they were not qualified, and they had to go to court. That is how they got in—through a court order.”
Okonkwo further alleged that Peter Obi had been drawn into a political trap due to his connection with the NDC.
He argued that the party was intentionally created to attract the former governor of Anambra State.
He also accused former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of not being genuine in his dealings with Obi, though he did not provide additional details to substantiate the claim.
