Adekanmbi Donates N2.5m to Victims of Bode Market Fire in Ibadan

The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanmbi, has donated N2.5 million to victims of the recent fire outbreak at Bode Market, Ibadan, in a move to support traders affected by the disaster.
The donation was made during a sympathy visit to the market, where the fire incident had destroyed shops and goods worth millions of naira, leaving several traders in distress and struggling to recover from losses.
Reports confirm that the fire affected multiple lock-up shops and stalls in the busy Ibadan market, disrupting commercial activities and forcing traders to count heavy financial losses as emergency responders battled to contain the blaze.
Adekanmbi, while addressing the victims, described the incident as a painful setback for grassroots traders whose livelihoods depend on daily market activities.
He stated that the donation was a personal intervention to provide immediate relief while calling on government and relevant agencies to strengthen fire prevention systems in major markets across the state.
The APM candidate also encouraged traders not to lose hope, noting that recovery would require combined efforts from government, private individuals, and market associations.
Market leaders at Bode Market appreciated the gesture, describing it as timely support that would help some affected traders restart their businesses.
They also appealed for improved infrastructure, including firefighting equipment, accessible water sources, and better emergency response coordination to reduce future incidents.
Local authorities have begun assessing the extent of damage caused by the fire, while investigations are ongoing to determine its exact cause.
