Oyo Govt Adjusts School Calendar, Fixes July 6 Resumption After NUT Strike Disruption

The Oyo State Government has adjusted the academic calendar for public primary and secondary schools and announced Sunday, July 6, as the new resumption date following the disruption caused by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) strike.

The decision was communicated by the State Ministry of Education after consultations with relevant stakeholders to restore order to the academic timetable affected by the industrial action.

According to the revised schedule, schools across the state are expected to resume normal academic activities on July 6, with both teaching and administrative processes set to restart immediately.

The adjustment follows days of uncertainty in the education sector after public school teachers embarked on strike action over welfare-related concerns, which led to the suspension of academic activities in several schools.

Education authorities in the state stated that the revised calendar is designed to ensure that the lost academic time is recovered without compromising the quality of teaching and learning.

The ministry also noted that school administrators have been directed to update internal schedules in line with the new resumption date and ensure compliance across all public schools.

The government reiterated its commitment to resolving outstanding issues with teachers through dialogue and engagement with labour unions to avoid future interruptions in the school system.
