Fadahunsi Clarifies ‘Kill Accord’ Comment, Says It Was Metaphorical

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has explained that his viral “Kill Accord” comment was a metaphorical call for voters to reject the Accord Party at the polls and not an endorsement of violence.
The clarification followed a video circulating on social media in which the senator, while addressing All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Ilesa ahead of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, urged them to “attack” Accord Party supporters.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media office in Osogbo, titled “Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence, Senator Fadahunsi Tells APC,” the senator said his comment was strictly political and referred to defeating the party through democratic means.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Senator’s statement was purely political and metaphorical,” the statement said.
The statement stressed that Fadahunsi did not call for violence or physical attacks against members of the Accord Party or any other political group.
The senator urged APC supporters and other political actors to maintain peace and allow the electorate to decide the outcome of the election through their votes.
“At no point did Senator Fadahunsi advocate violence, intimidation or any form of physical attack against members or supporters of the Accord Party or any other political party,” the statement added.
Fadahunsi also called on security agencies to remain professional and ensure that voters can exercise their constitutional rights without fear or intimidation.
The statement reaffirmed his commitment to issue-based campaigns, democratic values and a credible electoral process, while urging the public not to misinterpret his remarks.
Meanwhile, the campaign council of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to investigate the senator’s comments and take appropriate action.
