SA Security, Bibire Appeals for Respect, Cooperation With Uniformed Personnel

The Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Security Matters, Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, has appealed to residents to respect security personnel and cooperate with them as they carry out their duties across the state.

Bibire made the appeal on Thursday in a statement he issued to journalists in Ibadan.

In the statement, he encouraged members of the public to abide by the rule of law and support security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and protect lives and property.

He said effective security depends on a strong partnership between residents and those entrusted with maintaining law and order, adding that public cooperation is essential to enabling security personnel to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

Bibire called for cooperation with personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria Customs Service.

He also listed the Oyo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, Federal Road Safety Corps and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency amongst the agencies whose personnel contribute to public safety and the maintenance of order.

According to him, the agencies have distinct responsibilities, ranging from the protection of lives and property to traffic management, border control, law enforcement and the prevention of illicit activities.

He appealed to residents to remain calm and respectful when interacting with security personnel performing lawful duties, while encouraging anyone who feels unfairly treated to seek redress through the appropriate channels.

Bibire said constructive relations between residents and security agencies would facilitate the effective discharge of security responsibilities and contribute to a safer environment across Oyo State.

The Oyo State Security Adviser ended by calling for continued civic responsibility from residents, urging them to obey the law and relay useful information with the appropriate security agencies whenever necessary.
