Fagbenro-Bibire Distributes Free Fuel To Okada Riders, Says He Is Following Governor Seyi Makinde’s Example On Hardship Alleviation

A leading aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives in Ibadan Northwest and Ibadan Southwest Federal Constituency under the PDP umbrella, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro popularly known as Bibire, on Saturday distributed free petrol to commercial motorcycle riders across the constituency.

The exercise took place at Bovas Filling Station in Odo Ona Apata within Ibadan Southwest Local Government.

Polity Reporters gathered that the riders received a good quantity of fuel, and plans are already in place to extend the same support in Ibadan Northwest Local Government in the coming days.

Speaking at the station which had already drawn a large crowd before the scheduled time, Bibire explained that his action was in line with the example set by Governor Seyi Makinde in easing the burden on the people.

He noted that Governor Makinde has recorded visible efforts in the area of welfare, adding that the impact of such interventions can be seen across different sectors of the state.

He pointed to the recent support given to civil servants in the form of transport assistance as a clear demonstration of responsive leadership at a time when many Nigerians are struggling with rising fuel costs.

Bibire who publicly declared support for Omi-tuntun 3.0, stated that a true follower is known by actions, stressing that he considers it necessary to take practical steps that validate the kind of leadership he admires in Governor Seyi Makinde.

He explained that the decision to support okada riders came from the understanding that they are among those most affected by the increase in petrol price.

He also made it clear that the support scheme was not laced by politics but by a personal commitment to give back to the society, noting that he carried out a similar exercise last year outside any election period.

“You can see the joy on their faces and that is what this is all about.” Bibire said.

He, however, advised the riders to show the same consideration to passengers by avoiding unnecessary increases in transport fares and by treating people with fairness.

Several beneficiaries who expressed total satisfaction, appreciated Bibire for the kind gesture and described him as someone who has consistently shown great concern for the welfare of the people over the years.

One of the riders, who identified himself as Festus, said the support came at the right time when many are finding it difficult to cope with daily expenses.

They offered prayers for him and expressed hope that his aspirations, political and non-political, would come to pass.

As of the time of filing this report, the atmosphere around the area remained agog as residents continued to commend the effort and called on others in positions of influence, and politicians, to take similar steps.
