“VDM Must Face the Law” — Presidency Reacts to Viral Audio of Tinubu Begging Obi Not to Run

The Presidency has vowed to hold social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), legally accountable for circulating an allegedly fabricated audio involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy, condemned the viral audio as a flagrant misuse of social media platforms.

Onanuga stated that VDM must face the weight of the law for disseminating a fake audio of President Tinubu.

He described the act as a clear case of egregious abuse of the social media platform.

The audio, widely circulated online, allegedly features an AI-generated voice claiming that President Tinubu requested Peter Obi to step down ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Supporters of the Presidency dismissed the claims in the audio as entirely fabricated.

They particularly rejected the assertion that the President vowed to punish Nigerians for not voting for him during the 2023 election.

Although no formal charges have been announced, officials insist that disseminating manipulated content capable of misleading the public requires legal action.

Earlier this year, VeryDarkMan was involved in a legal dispute with businessman BLord.

The case escalated into a criminal matter after BLord was arraigned on April 1, 2026, on charges of criminal conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation over the alleged misuse of VeryDarkMan’s identity.
