Atiku’s Aide Urges DSS to Question Igboho on Oyo Abductions

Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to invite Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho for information on those allegedly responsible for the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Ibe made the appeal in a post on X on Thursday, following Igboho’s claims that he knew the politicians behind the kidnappings.
While receiving members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Igboho alleged that certain politicians were involved in the abductions.
He warned that he would disclose their identities if the incidents continued.
Reacting to this claim, Ibe said security agencies should take advantage of any information that could aid in securing the release of the victims.
He stressed that if Igboho truly possesses knowledge of those responsible, the DSS and other relevant agencies should engage him to obtain the names of the alleged perpetrators.
According to Ibe, all possible avenues should be explored to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students and teachers.
The Atiku aide also questioned the response of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to the reported kidnapping of more than 50 schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State, on May 15, 2026.
He criticized the Federal Government for remaining silent over the Borno incident and asked why the same level of attention given to the Oriire abductions had not been extended to victims in Borno.
Ibe further asked when the Federal Government would deploy forest guards to Borno and other vulnerable states.
He argued that proactive measures were necessary to address insecurity, rather than waiting for tragedies to occur before acting.
He maintained that the government should show equal concern for all victims of insecurity nationwide and strengthen efforts to protect communities at risk of attacks and kidnappings.
