Emeka Ike Raises Alarm Over Alleged INEC Data Leak, Labels It Abuse of Power

Nollywood actor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives aspirant, Emeka Ike, has expressed concern over the alleged exposure of his personal information from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) database.
He described the incident as an abuse of power.
Speaking on News Central Television, Ike said the alleged leak left him feeling insecure and unsafe.
He added that it was the first time he had felt such fears regarding his personal safety.
According to the actor, the development raises serious questions about the protection of citizens’ data and the state of governance in Nigeria.
“I felt insecure. For the first time, I’m feeling like, ‘Is anybody saving this country anymore?’” he said.
He added, “It was shocking. It was so disturbing that I felt unsafe. That kind of feeling, that’s what it was like to me. It’s an abuse of power.”
Ike further characterized the incident as an example of what he called “political radicalism,” claiming it signals that authorities can act without accountability.
He confirmed that he has initiated legal proceedings against Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The actor revealed that his lawyer had sent letters to Olayinka, INEC, his political party, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force to formally document the matter.
“Obviously, I will go to court, and my lawyer has already written to Lere and INEC. He has also written to my party, the DSS, and the police so that it can be on record that stuff like this has happened in Nigeria,” Ike stated.
The controversy follows allegations of unauthorized access to and disclosure of voter information from INEC’s database, a matter that is currently under public scrutiny and investigation.
