IBSW: Ward 12 Councillor, Hon. Ayoade Facilitates Solar Street Lights, Commends Hon Akande’s Commitment To Security, Grassroots Development

The Councillor representing Ward 12 in Ibadan South West Local Government, Otunba Phillips Ayoade, has facilitated the installation of solar powered street lights across critical locations within the ward as part of efforts to improve public safety, enhance night time visibility, and support ongoing measures directed at strengthening security at the grassroots.

Ayoade stated that the intervention became necessary in view of the need to ensure that residents can move about with enough confidence while also making the environment less attractive to criminal elements who often take advantage of dark spots to perpetrate unlawful activities.

Speaking on the development, Ayoade said, “Security is everybody’s business and one of the simplest ways to discourage criminal activities is to ensure that our streets and public spaces are not left in darkness.”

“We cannot continue to ask people to be security conscious without also providing some of the basic things that support security, and that is why this project is very important to us as representatives of the people,” he added.

He noted that well illuminated streets will not only discourage criminal activities but also improve social and economic activities within the communities, adding that residents deserve to live in an environment where they can go about their daily engagements without fear.

Ayoade explained that the project forms part of his commitment to people-centred representation and his determination to attract meaningful development that directly impacts the lives of his constituents.

Ayoade used the opportunity to commend the Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Akande, for his purposeful leadership and commitment to the welfare of residents across the local government.

“Hon. Kehinde Akande has shown that leadership is best measured by its impact on the people, and his commitment to security, community development, and responsive governance deserves commendation,” Ayoade said.

The Councillor further praised the cordial relationship between the local government leadership, security agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders, describing it as one of the factors responsible for the relative peace being enjoyed in the area.
