Ibadan Cultural Festival: Ibadan South West LG Chairman, Hon. Akande Congratulates Governor Makinde, Celebrates Indigenes at 2026 Grand Finale

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Honourable Kehinde Adeyemi Akande, has congratulated the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, and all sons and daughters of Ibadanland on the successful hosting of the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival Grand Finale.

In a congratulatory statement signed by Adediran Oyekunbi, Head of Information Unit, Ibadan South West Local Government, and made available to Polity Reporters, Hon. Akande described the event as a proud moment for Ibadanland and its people.

The grand finale of the festival was held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamashingba, Ibadan, where dignitaries, cultural groups, and residents gathered to celebrate the rich heritage of the ancient city.

Hon. Akande noted that the event stood out as a strong display of unity, cultural pride, and the indelible legacy of Ibadan’s history.

He stated that the Ibadan Cultural Festival remains a significant platform that reminds the people of their shared identity and collective heritage.

According to him, the 2026 edition further showcased the beauty, strength, and pride of Ibadanland to a wider audience.

The council chairman went on to commend the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes for its consistency in preserving and promoting the cultural values of the land.

He also appreciated the efforts of the planning committee, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders whose contributions ensured the success of the event.

Hon. Akande stressed the importance of cultural festivals in strengthening unity, promoting tourism, and supporting economic activities within the local government and the state at large.

He explained that such events create opportunities for local businesses and help project Ibadan in a positive light beyond its borders.

The chairman, however, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting cultural programmes that promote the identity and development of Ibadanland.

He equally encouraged young people to take pride in their heritage and remain actively involved in preserving the traditions handed down to them.

Hon. Akande also called for continued unity among Ibadan indigenes both at home and in the diaspora.

He prayed for sustained peace, progress, and prosperity across Ibadanland.

Among those present at the event from Ibadan South West Local Government were the wife of the Vice Chairman, Alhaja Sidikat Adeola Adigun, honourable councillors, supervisory councillors, special assistants, political stakeholders, directors, deputies, unit heads, and staff members.
