Oshiomhole Claims Some Senators’ Signatures Were Falsely Included in Akpoti-Uduaghan Suspension Report

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North, has alleged that the signatures of at least three lawmakers were either forged or wrongly included in the report that recommended the six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
He made the claim while reacting to comments by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, who had described Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension as one of the lowest points of the 10th Senate.
Oshiomhole said some senators whose names appeared on the report privately denied signing or endorsing its recommendations, insisting that their consent was neither sought nor given.
He specifically cited Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Federal Capital Territory, claiming she expressed surprise upon seeing her name listed among those who supported the report.
“The committee conducts a hearing and members are expected to sign the report to indicate endorsement, but some senators told me they did not sign it even though their names were published,” he said.
“Senator Ireti Kingibe told me, ‘I did not sign that report, yet my name was included,’” he added.
He further suggested that attendance records may have been improperly used in place of actual signatures, describing the practice as procedurally wrong.
“Some said they did not sign, but their names were still there, and in some cases an attendance register may have been attached instead of proper endorsement, which is not the correct procedure,” he said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March 2025 over allegations of gross misconduct linked to her accusations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, a decision that led to the sealing of her office and suspension of her salaries and allowances.
