Annie Idibia dismisses reunion rumours with 2Baba, says viral videos are old

Nollywood actress Annie Idibia has dismissed reports suggesting that she has reconciled with her estranged husband, Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, describing the circulating claims as false and based on old videos being presented as recent.
The speculation about a possible reunion between the former couple started after videos showing Annie and 2Baba sharing affectionate moments while dancing at a nightclub resurfaced on social media, leading many fans to believe that the pair had rekindled their relationship.
The viral clips, which spread widely online, showed the former couple appearing close and enjoying themselves together, sparking discussions among fans who questioned whether the two had decided to return to their marriage.
However, Annie reacted to the rumours through a post on her Instagram Stories, stating that the videos making the rounds were old and that the reports suggesting a reunion were misleading.
“Old videos circulating everywhere, false news everywhere,” the actress wrote, dismissing the claims that she and the music icon had reunited.
The actress’ clarification came days after social media users began debating the authenticity of the footage, with some believing it was evidence of a renewed relationship between the former lovers, while others questioned the timing of the video.
Annie and 2Baba’s marriage became a subject of public attention over the years before the singer announced in January 2025 that the couple had separated and had commenced divorce proceedings after more than a decade together.
2Baba, whose real name is Innocent Ujah Idibia, later confirmed that his separation announcement was genuine, dismissing earlier suggestions that his social media account had been compromised.
The couple, who got married in 2012, share two children and remained one of Nigeria’s most followed celebrity couples before their marriage crisis became public.
Their relationship had attracted significant public interest over the years due to 2Baba’s status as one of Africa’s biggest music stars and Annie’s successful career in Nollywood.
Following the resurfacing of the nightclub video, many fans expressed hope that the former couple might have resolved their differences, but Annie’s latest statement appears to have ruled out claims of a reconciliation.
The actress’ response also highlights the challenges faced by public figures in controlling narratives about their personal lives, especially when old content resurfaces online and is interpreted without proper context.
As of now, neither Annie nor 2Baba has announced any change in their relationship status, with the actress maintaining that the reunion reports were based on recycled footage rather than a recent development.
