Joshua Breaks Silence on Fury Showdown, Sets July 25 Condition

Anthony Joshua has welcomed a potential first face-to-face meeting with Tyson Fury on July 25, but insists the highly anticipated heavyweight showdown can only happen after he defeats Kristian Prenga in his comeback fight.

Joshua is scheduled to face Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in a bout regarded as a preparation fight ahead of a possible blockbuster clash with Fury later in 2026.

The former two-time world heavyweight champion said Fury would be welcome to enter the ring after his fight with Prenga, but made it clear that his immediate focus remains on securing victory against his Albanian opponent.

“If he wants to come in the ring when I win July 25th, come welcome,” Joshua said, stressing that Fury must wait until he completes his own assignment.

The planned Joshua versus Fury showdown has been described as one of the biggest fights in British boxing history, with both former champions having spent years linked with a possible meeting that has repeatedly failed to materialise.

Joshua’s July 25 bout against Prenga will mark his return to the ring after his previous fight against Jake Paul and a difficult period following a car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two of his close friends.

Prenga enters the contest with a record of 20 wins and one defeat, with all his victories coming by knockout, but Joshua remains the favourite due to his experience against elite heavyweight opposition.

Fury is also expected to have a warm-up fight before facing Joshua, with reports indicating that both fighters need to come through their respective bouts before the long-awaited British heavyweight clash can be finalised.

The potential Joshua versus Fury fight has attracted global attention because both men have held world heavyweight titles and have dominated British boxing for much of the last decade.

If completed, the bout would represent a historic all-British heavyweight contest and could become one of the biggest commercial events in the sport’s history.
