Seriki Beats Other Aspirants, Emerges APM Councillorship Candidate for Ibadan South West Ward 8

The incumbent Councillor representing Ward 8 in Ibadan South West Local Government Area, Hon. Seriki Idris Abiodun, has emerged as the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) councillorship candidate for the forthcoming local government election.

Seriki emerged as the party’s flag bearer after securing the highest number of votes in the internal party election conducted amongst other aspirants by the party leaders in the ward.

The serving councillor polled 10 votes to defeat Hon. Rasheed Adebayo Ganiyu, who scored three votes, and Hon. Olukunle Akindele Israel, who recorded two votes.

His emergence has therefore been described by party leaders as a recognition of his contributions to the party and his effective representation of the ward at the council level.

Speaking on the outcome of the exercise, some party leaders in the ward commended the process, noting that Seriki’s experience and understanding of grassroots issues gave him an edge among the aspirants.

The news of his emergence has also been received with joy among many residents of Ward 8, who welcomed the outcome and described it as a positive step for the ward.

Some residents who spoke on the development said they were pleased with the result, and that Seriki’s return to the council would provide continuity and give him another opportunity to continue addressing issues affecting the ward.

Reacting to his emergence, Seriki appreciated every stakeholder who supported his candidacy, and labelled their confidence in him as a great encouragement.

This was as he extended his hand of fellowship to the other aspirants, urging them to unite and work together for the progress of the party and the overall development of the ward.

With his emergence as the APM candidate, Seriki joins the growing list of candidates preparing for the councillorship contest in Ibadan South West Local Government Area as political activities continue ahead of the election.
