Adeleke Warns Osun Voters Against “Return To Half Salary Era”

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged residents not to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election, warning that the state must not return to what he described as the era of half salaries and unpaid workers’ entitlements.
Adeleke made the statement while campaigning for re-election, telling voters that his administration had restored regular payment of salaries and improved workers’ welfare, urging them to protect what he described as the gains recorded under his leadership.
The governor said his administration had cleared part of the inherited salary and pension obligations left behind by previous governments, including debts linked to the controversial half salary arrangement that affected civil servants in the state.
Adeleke, who defeated former Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the APC in the 2022 governorship election, is seeking another term as political parties intensify preparations ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election.
Speaking during an engagement with workers in Osun, the governor urged civil servants and other eligible voters to convert their support for his administration into votes, stressing that the ballot would determine the direction of the state.
He relayed workers’ welfare as one of the major achievements of his administration, stating that Osun had implemented the current minimum wage and maintained prompt salary payments compared with the previous period of irregular payments.
The governor also accused the APC of representing a return to past economic difficulties in the state, insisting that voters should reject any move that could bring back what he called the “dark days” of salary challenges and financial hardship.
However, the APC and its supporters have continued to challenge Adeleke’s performance record, accusing his administration of failing in some areas and promising voters an alternative direction for the state.
