Adeleke Lists Achievements, Says He Deserves Second Term

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared that his administration has transformed the state through workers’ welfare reforms, infrastructure projects and social development programmes, insisting that his performance justifies his bid for a second term in office.

Adeleke made the statement while relaying the achievements of his administration ahead of the August 15 governorship election, where he is seeking another mandate from Osun voters.

The governor said his government inherited major financial challenges, including accumulated half salary arrears and pension obligations, but had made significant progress in addressing the liabilities while improving the welfare of workers and retirees.

According to Adeleke, his administration has paid more than N80 billion in inherited pension debt and cleared a substantial portion of the outstanding half salary arrears owed to workers, describing the move as a demonstration of commitment to public servants in the state.

He also pointed to infrastructure delivery as one of the major achievements of his government, listing the construction of about 350 kilometres of roads, three flyover bridges and the dualization of several major roads across Osun as evidence of his administration’s impact.

Adeleke further amplified developments in the education and health sectors, including the rehabilitation of about 150 schools, the upgrade of over 200 primary healthcare centres and the establishment of the University of Ilesa as part of efforts to expand access to quality services.

The governor said his administration had also invested in agriculture, youth empowerment, digital development and economic initiatives, including the purchase of tractors for farmers, support for cooperatives and reforms aimed at improving the state’s business environment.

Adeleke maintained that Osun residents had witnessed a new approach to governance under his leadership, arguing that the state had moved away from the challenges of unpaid obligations and abandoned projects that previously affected public confidence.

He urged voters to consider his administration’s record when making their decision at the polls, saying continuity would allow his government to consolidate ongoing projects and introduce more development programmes across the state.

The governor’s re-election campaign is anchored on an expanded five-point agenda focusing on workers’ welfare, infrastructure development, agricultural expansion, healthcare and education access, as well as a stronger business environment for job creation.

Meanwhile, opposition parties have continued to challenge the governor’s claims and are campaigning for voters to consider alternative leadership options ahead of the election.
