Osun Victory Is Win for Democracy — Adeleke 

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has described his victory in the 2026 governorship election as a triumph for democracy and the people of the state.

Adeleke, who was declared winner of the poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, expressed gratitude to God and Osun residents for supporting his administration.

Speaking in a video shortly after his declaration, the governor said the victory belonged to the people of Osun State.

“I feel great. First of all, I thank God Almighty for what has happened today. It’s a victory for democracy in Nigeria. A victory for Osun people that stood by me and said, Imole, you have done a lot for us,” Adeleke said.

He added that residents supported his administration because of what he described as its achievements in infrastructure, education, agriculture and other sectors.

The governor was declared winner after securing victory in 19 of the 30 local government areas in the governorship election held across the state on Saturday.

The declaration was made by the State Returning Officer, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof Joshua Ogunwole.
