Almería Donates Match Revenue to Late Player’s Family

Spanish football club UD Almería has announced that it will donate all the money from ticket sales for its upcoming match against CD Tenerife to the family of late footballer Jesús de Miguel.
The club said the decision was made by its president, Mohammed Al Khereiji, as a way to support the family after the player died following a tragic incident during a football match.
The club said the decision was made at the initiative of its president, Mohammed Al Khereiji, as part of its effort to support the bereaved family during a difficult period.
UD Almería explained that the donation would cover the full revenue from ticket sales for the home fixture against CD Tenerife, which is listed as Matchday 34 of the Spanish second-division LaLiga Hypermotion.
In its official statement, the club said it recognised that no amount of money could replace a loved one or take away the pain of losing someone, but stressed that football should stand for compassion and support during difficult times.
The club also invited the family of De Miguel to attend the match against Tenerife if their circumstances allowed, as another way of showing its support and sympathy.
De Miguel, 30, died on Tuesday, November 3, after a serious collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a Spanish second-division match on Monday, November 2.
The incident happened in stoppage time when Owono rushed out of his goal to challenge De Miguel for the ball and struck the Tenerife forward in the chest with his knee.
The player collapsed on the pitch and received emergency medical attention for several minutes before he was taken to hospital, where he later died following a cardiac arrest.
The match was abandoned after the incident, while CD Tenerife later confirmed his death in an emotional statement that expressed deep sorrow and offered condolences to his family, friends, teammates and supporters.
Other Spanish clubs have also paid tribute to the late footballer, with UD Las Palmas announcing that its players would wear their third kit, which features the white and blue colours associated with Tenerife, during their match against CD Eldense.
The gesture by Las Palmas was to show respect and support for Tenerife beyond the rivalry between the two clubs.
UD Almería has not disclosed the expected amount from the ticket sales, but confirmed that the entire revenue would go to De Miguel family.
The decision has drawn attention across Spanish football as clubs and supporters continue to express sympathy with the family of the late player.
