BREAKING: EFCC Closes Investigation on Pastor Jerry Eze

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, revealed that the commission had investigated Jerry Eze, lead pastor of Streams of Joy International, over allegations of money laundering.
Olukoyede disclosed that the investigation lasted for six months and was prompted by intelligence reports and petitions.
He explained that the EFCC scrutinized financial inflows into accounts allegedly linked to Pastor Eze, which reportedly showed foreign currency transactions from multiple countries, including Colombia, the United States, Sri Lanka, and Togo.
“There was an account where dollars and pounds were dropping like raindrops from Colombia, America, Sri Lanka, and even Togo,” Olukoyede said, adding, “We investigated him but found nothing suspicious.”
The EFCC chairman clarified that the investigation was a part of routine financial crime monitoring and did not result in any charges against the cleric.
He further addressed fraudulent practices among some religious leaders, stating that some individuals found guilty or under investigation for financial crimes are linked to religious institutions.
Olukoyede’s comments come amid a broader public debate on the EFCC’s enforcement priorities and its controversial recent statistics on cybercrime among Nigerian youths.
The commission has recently faced criticism over its claims regarding university students’ involvement in internet fraud, with many stakeholders demanding greater transparency and evidence-based reporting.
As of the latest update, Jerry Eze has not made any public statement in response to Olukoyede’s remarks.
