Adeleke Holds Emergency Security Meeting

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called an urgent security council meeting following a recent surge in attacks and destruction of public property across the state.

The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the meeting was summoned to address growing security concerns reportedly connected to political violence.

The emergency session is set to take place at the Governor’s Office and will include top security officials and service commanders.

Governor Adeleke said the meeting aims to tackle what he described as “the menace of thuggery” and questioned why law enforcement agencies have failed to prevent such attacks.

“We must find out why hoodlums target public property while security officers stand by without action,” he said.

The council will discuss strategies to prevent future incidents and ensure public confidence in the state’s security systems.

The meeting comes amid heightened political tension ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, with reports of vandalised campaign materials.

The Imole Campaign Council accused suspected APC supporters of damaging billboards belonging to both the governor and the Accord Party.

The APC, however, denied the claims, calling them politically motivated.

Tensions escalated further after Kolade Eluyera, son of the Accord Women Leader in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, was killed by unknown attackers.

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have not yet released detailed findings.
