Oyo Priest Invokes Deities to Rescue Abducted Schoolchildren

Amid growing fear for the safety of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, the community has turned to spiritual intervention.

A video captured the Onisa of Esin Ele, Muraina Mutairo, performing a traditional ritual to call on deities to hunt the kidnappers and protect the children.

Mutairo, dressed in traditional attire, chanted incantations in Yoruba, asking ancestral guardians to return the children safely and overcome the bandits.

The priest invited a local monarch who also offered prayers, echoing calls for the unharmed return of students and staff.

He prayed that the kidnappers’ camp would be struck with confusion and disagreement, while requesting that security officials capture the abductors dead or alive.

About 30 students and teachers were kidnapped during the attack, while two people were killed.

Condemnation of the attack has continued, with calls for swift action to rescue the victims and prevent future incidents.
