Phyna Regrets Using BBNaija Prize Money to Support Family Instead of Investing

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has admitted she regrets spending her N100 million prize money on supporting family members instead of making investments.

Speaking during a recent livestream, the reality TV star said she was “young and naive” after leaving the show and struggled to manage her winnings properly.

Phyna explained that she thought she was helping her family by clearing debts and providing financial support, but later realised she had neglected long-term investment opportunities.

“The mistake I made was using my Big Brother Naija prize money to support family members instead of investing it,” she said.

She added that she spent heavily on relatives, including funding community projects such as boreholes, but tensions arose when she could no longer meet constant financial demands.

According to her, the lack of guidance from older family members contributed to poor financial decisions, leaving her to face the consequences alone after the money was exhausted.

Phyna won the BBNaija Season 7 grand prize in 2022, which included N50 million in cash and N50 million worth of sponsored rewards.
