SA Security Bibire Applauds Governor Makinde for Intensifying Measures to Protect Residents

The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security Matters, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro (Bibire), has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for going the extra mile with consistent investments, strategic support, and deliberate actions concentrated on fortifying the security framework of Oyo State and putting security agencies in the driver’s seat to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
Bibire gave this commendation on Friday while commenting on the recent signing of Executive Order 002 of 2026 by Governor Makinde, hailing the move as another bold step towards shoring up security, tightening enforcement measures, and staying one step ahead of emerging threats across the State.
According to him, the Executive Order further demonstrates Governor Makinde’s readiness to take difficult but necessary decisions whenever the safety of residents and the protection of lives and property are involved, adding that effective leadership is measured by the ability to respond proactively to changing realities.
He noted that the latest directive came shortly after the signing of Executive Order 001 of 2026, which provides for the regulation, registration, coordination, and monitoring of associations, groups, and organizations offering security and allied services in Oyo State, a development he said would strengthen accountability and improve coordination among community based security structures.
Bibire maintained that Governor Makinde has perpetually demonstrated that security remains one of the cardinal priorities of his administration, pointing to the establishment and strengthening of Amotekun, sustained support for security agencies, investment in emergency response systems, and regular engagement with security stakeholders across the State.
He disclosed that as part of efforts to further strengthen collaboration among security agencies, his office held its first familiarization engagement and strategic meeting with heads of security agencies and service commanders in Oyo State on Tuesday, where discussions centred on practical measures designed to improve intelligence sharing, operational effectiveness, and overall security management.
Bibire explained that the meeting was in line with Governor Makinde’s commitment to intensifying efforts towards ensuring that security remains strong, effective, and responsive across all parts of Oyo State.
He said the gathering also provided an opportunity for security chiefs to review existing challenges, identify areas requiring greater cooperation, and align strategies towards achieving a safer and unassailable environment for all residents of Oyo State.
Speaking on the recent abduction of teachers and students in Oriire Local Government Area, Bibire assured the good people of Oyo State that Governor Seyi Makinde, working closely with security agencies, is leaving no stone unturned in its determination to secure the safe return of the victims.
He stated that while government may not always disclose operational details or provide regular public updates, such restraint is necessary because of the sensitive nature of ongoing security and rescue efforts.
“The safety of the victims remains the primary concern of government and security agencies, and every action being taken is guided by the need to achieve the desired outcome without compromising ongoing operations,” he said.
Bibire also praised Governor Makinde for approving and supporting the acquisition of surveillance aircraft to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve the capacity of security agencies to monitor and respond to threats, particularly in difficult terrains and border communities.
According to him, the decision to deploy modern technology and aerial surveillance resources indicates a leadership that understands that contemporary security challenges require modern solutions and proactive planning.
He noted that the various security interventions undertaken by the present administration have continued to reinforce public confidence and improve the ability of security agencies to carry out their duties effectively.
Bibire added that Governor Makinde’s approach to security has remained clear from the first day of his administration, stressing that peace, stability, and public safety are essential foundations for economic growth, investment, and sustainable development.
He ended that with the continued support being provided by the Governor to security agencies and the additional measures being introduced to strengthen the security framework of the State, residents can remain confident that government will continue to do everything necessary to keep Oyo State safe and risk-resistant.
