Kwankwasiyya Denies Rumours of Kwankwaso Leaving Party

The Kwankwasiyya movement has rejected claims circulating on social media that its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, plans to quit the party.

Spokesperson Habeeb Saleh Mohammed described the rumours as “false and unfounded” in an interview with journalists.

Mohammed emphasised that the group strictly followed the INEC timetable during its recent primaries.

He stated that primaries were conducted nationwide on the 29th of last month, following proper processes that produced candidates for all positions without complaints.

The spokesperson added that the exercise was successful and the results had already been submitted to party leadership for necessary action.

Mohammed categorically denied any discussions about Kwankwaso leaving the party.

He reiterated, “There was never a time it was discussed that our party leader is leaving the party. That is our position.”

The public was urged to ignore the circulating rumours, with the movement affirming its unity and focus on party objectives.

The clarification comes after reports suggested Kwankwaso was considering withdrawing his political structure from the NDC over disputes about candidate lists.

Tensions reportedly arose from claims that the national leadership replaced several Kano candidates submitted by the Kwankwasiyya camp to enforce a pre-agreed 60/40 power-sharing formula.

Social media rumours that Kwankwaso intended to leave the party gained traction on Monday, partly linking the story to ADC and citing the NDC Vice Presidential candidate’s alleged protest over the Kano consensus list.
