Governor Shakes Up Cabinet, Six Commissioners Return

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has embarked on a major cabinet restructuring as part of efforts to reposition his administration, leading to the dissolution of his cabinet and the appointment of new commissioners.
The governor had earlier dissolved the State Executive Council, including the Secretary to the State Government and all commissioners, directing the affected officials to hand over government property and responsibilities to permanent secretaries in their respective ministries.
The decision, according to the government, was aimed at creating room for fresh ideas and allowing other qualified individuals to contribute to the development of the state.
Following the dissolution, Governor Sule forwarded the names of new commissioner nominees to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Among the nominees were six former commissioners who returned to the cabinet alongside new appointees.
The returning commissioners included Yakubu Kwanta, Princess Margaret Elayo, Munirat Abdullahi, Dr John Mamma, Dr Gaza Gwamna and Mu’azu Gosho, while other nominees included former lawmakers and professionals from different sectors.
Among those nominated were former Majority Leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Tanko Tunga, former local government chairmen and retired security officials, including retired Commissioner of Police Usman Baba.
The cabinet shake-up came as Governor Sule sought to strengthen key sectors of the state, with the new appointees expected to support the implementation of government policies, particularly in infrastructure, security, education and economic development.
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly subsequently screened the nominees, and paved the way for their inauguration.
