Foden Commits Future to Man City, Signs New Deal Until 2030

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has signed a new long term contract with the Premier League champions, extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2030 with an option for a further year.

The new agreement ends speculation over the England international’s future and reinforces Manchester City’s belief that the academy graduate remains a key figure in the club’s next chapter.

Foden, who joined Manchester City’s academy as an eight year old before rising through the ranks to become one of the club’s most decorated players, expressed his delight at committing his future to his boyhood club.

“Committing my future to City means everything to me. Playing for this club is all I have ever wanted to do,” Foden said, adding that he remains determined to win more trophies with the team.

The 26 year old has enjoyed a remarkable career at City, winning six Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League trophy and several domestic honours, making him the club’s most decorated player after collecting 17 major trophies.

The contract extension comes after a challenging period for Foden, who endured injury problems and a dip in form that affected his regular playing time and raised questions about his place in England’s squad ahead of major international competitions.

Despite those difficulties, Manchester City’s new manager Enzo Maresca and football director Hugo Viana have maintained confidence in Foden’s ability to return to his best form.

Foden also welcomed the opportunity to work again with Maresca, who previously served as an assistant coach during Pep Guardiola’s successful 2022/23 treble winning season at City.

The England star said he believes Maresca’s football philosophy will help him continue improving and reach another level in his career.

Since making his first team debut at the age of 17, Foden has established himself as one of Manchester City’s most important homegrown talents, recording over 100 goals and numerous assists for the club.

The new deal represents City’s commitment to building around a player who has been central to the club’s recent dominance and is expected to play a major role in the team’s future ambitions.
