Portable Walks Out Of Ring As Okocha Claims Controversial Rematch Victory

Street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has apologised to fans and organisers after his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha ended abruptly following his decision to quit the fight after the opening round.
The highly anticipated bout, organised by Balmoral Group on Friday night, ended in controversy when Portable refused to continue after the first round, leaving spectators disappointed and handing the victory to Okocha through disqualification.
Portable’s management, through Zeh Nation and Dr Zeh, issued an apology to the organisers, event officials, fans and supporters who attended the contest, admitting that the unexpected ending was disappointing.
The statement from the singer’s camp acknowledged the frustration caused by his decision to walk away from the fight but appealed to the public to understand his perspective and respect his choice.
The management also accepted responsibility for the disappointment caused by the incident and appreciated fans for their continued support despite the controversy surrounding the fight.
Before the walkout, the contest had generated massive attention following the long running rivalry between Portable and Okocha, which began after their first celebrity boxing encounter in 2023.
Okocha had activated the rematch clause after disputing the outcome of their first meeting, where Portable was declared winner, setting the stage for another showdown between the two entertainers.
The rematch, tagged “Unfinished Business”, was expected to settle their rivalry inside the ring, but the contest quickly descended into controversy as both fighters engaged in a physical exchange that went beyond normal boxing action.
Portable later explained that he walked away because he believed he was treated unfairly during the fight, accusing Okocha of using wrestling tactics and alleging that he was bitten during the encounter.
The singer claimed he suffered injuries during the bout and displayed what he described as bite marks on his body while insisting that he was performing better before the disagreement inside the ring.
Despite Portable’s explanation, officials disqualified him after he left the ring, allowing Okocha to emerge victorious in the dramatic rematch.
The incident has continued to generate reactions among fans, with many debating whether Portable’s decision was justified or whether he should have remained in the contest until the final bell.
Celebrity boxing has continued to gain popularity in Nigeria, attracting musicians, actors and content creators who use the platform to settle rivalries while entertaining their supporters.
Portable’s apology has now shifted attention from the controversial ending of the fight to questions about whether the rivalry with Okocha is truly over or if another chapter awaits.
