Tinubu Applauds Major Security Breakthrough As 308 Abductees Regain Freedom In Kwara, Niger

President Bola Tinubu has commended Nigerian security agencies following the successful rescue of 308 abducted persons in Kwara and Niger states, describing the operation as a major milestone in the country’s ongoing fight against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.
The rescue operation, which involved coordinated efforts by the military and other security agencies, was described by the presidency as one of the largest single day rescue missions carried out in recent times.
According to a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the bravery and dedication of the security personnel involved in the operation, saying their efforts demonstrated the government’s commitment to protecting citizens.
The rescued victims were reportedly freed from the custody of criminal elements operating across parts of Kwara and Niger states, where bandit attacks and mass abductions have continued to pose serious security challenges.
The Presidency said the successful operation followed intensified intelligence gathering, surveillance and coordinated tactical responses by security forces deployed to affected areas.
Tinubu said the rescue of the abductees was evidence that the government’s renewed security strategies were producing results, while urging security agencies to sustain the momentum and ensure that criminals are denied freedom to operate across the country.
The President also directed security agencies to continue pursuing criminal networks responsible for kidnapping, terrorism and other violent crimes, stressing that the safety of Nigerians remains a top priority of his administration.
The operation comes amid increasing concerns over rising cases of abductions in parts of the North Central region, particularly in communities located around Kwara, Niger, Kaduna, Zamfara and neighbouring states.
Security analysts have repeatedly called for improved intelligence sharing, stronger community based security structures and better coordination among agencies to tackle the activities of bandits and other criminal groups.
Meanwhile, families of the rescued victims are expected to reunite with their loved ones after security agencies complete necessary profiling and medical checks to assess their condition.
The Federal Government has continued to face pressure from Nigerians to deliver more decisive action against insecurity, with stakeholders insisting that the rescue of kidnapped citizens must be matched with efforts to prevent future attacks.
The latest operation marks another major rescue effort by Nigerian security forces as authorities intensify campaigns against criminal groups threatening communities across the country.
