Trump Criticises Starmer, Says King Charles’ US Visit Unaffected

United States President Donald Trump has criticised British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, accusing him of making “tragic mistakes” in policies related to energy and immigration, as tensions rise between the US and the UK.

In an interview with Sky News, Trump acknowledged the current strain on the historically strong “special relationship” between the two nations but stated that it would not affect the upcoming state visit of King Charles III to the US.

Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the UK’s lack of support during America’s recent military operations in Iran. He also criticised Starmer’s stance on North Sea oil production and immigration, calling them “tragic mistakes.”

Despite the political friction, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles III will proceed with his four-day state visit to the US later this month.

Trump praised the British monarch, calling him “a great gentleman” and “a wonderful, wonderful person,” and emphasized that his disagreements with Starmer would “not at all” interfere with the royal visit.

The comments come amid delicate US–UK relations, with both governments navigating policy differences and ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
