Makinde–Olubadan Rift Settled, Ibadan Indigenes Confirm

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has announced that the rift between Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland has been amicably resolved.
The declaration was made in a statement signed by the CCII President-General, Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole.
The statement was made public through the organisation’s Publicity Secretary, Kola Olomide.
The group dismissed earlier reports suggesting plans to dethrone the Olubadan or impeach Governor Makinde.
It described such claims as unfounded.
According to the CCII, the disagreement between the governor and the traditional ruler has been settled through dialogue.
The conflict was resolved using established traditional conflict-resolution mechanisms within Ibadanland.
“The issues between Governor Makinde and the Olubadan have been resolved amicably,” the statement said.
The statement further noted that the external forces attempting to create a crisis around the situation had been defeated.
The council reassured the public that there are no ongoing plans to remove the monarch or initiate impeachment proceedings against the governor.
This development comes amid heightened tensions over alleged political and traditional leadership disputes in Oyo State.
The CCII reaffirmed its commitment to peace and unity in Ibadan.
It urged residents to disregard misinformation capable of destabilising the ancient city.
