BREAKING: Court Orders Journalists Out of Bail Hearing for Alleged Coup Plotters

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order barring journalists from attending the bail hearing of six individuals accused of conspiring to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to reports, operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) instructed reporters to leave the courtroom shortly before Judge Joyce Abdulmalik began the proceedings.

The directive to remove journalists is believed to have come from the court. As instructed, the reporters left the courtroom without resistance.

This decision comes amid growing public attention surrounding the trial of the six defendants, who were charged last Wednesday by the Federal Government for allegedly attempting a coup.

The individuals facing trial include Mohammed Ibrahim Gana, a retired major-general; Erasmus Victor, a retired navy captain; Ahmed Ibrahim, a police inspector; Zekeri Umoru, an electrician working at the Presidential Villa; Bukar Goni, and Abdulkadir Sani, Islamic clerics from Zaria.

The court’s choice to exclude the media from the bail proceedings has raised concerns about transparency and access to justice, especially considering the seriousness of the charges involved.

No further updates on the case were available at the time of this report.
