Kingibe Mourns Death of NYSC Member in Abuja

Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory, has expressed deep sorrow following the death of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member Abdulsamad Jamiu.

Reports suggest that the incident occurred when troops from the Guards Brigade Quick Response Group responded to a distress call during a night patrol after an armed robbery attack in the area.

Senator Kingibe described the incident as “deeply saddening and heartbreaking,” emphasizing that, while initial reports indicate it may have been an accidental shooting, the outcome is undeniably tragic.

She extended her heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, stating that no family should have to experience such a loss, especially involving a young person serving in the NYSC.

The Senator called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the events surrounding the death, highlighting the need for justice and institutional learning.

Kingibe pledged to continue her efforts to engage with the relevant authorities to push for reforms that would improve public safety and restore trust in security institutions.
