Fagbenro-Bibire Downplays Supreme Court Judgment, Backs Governor Makinde

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro, popularly known as Bibire, has urged party faithful and residents of Oyo State not to be distracted by the recent Supreme Court judgment on the party’s leadership tussle, calling instead for sustained support for Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement made available to Polity Reporters, Bibire said the ruling should not derail the collective resolve of party members and supporters who are committed to the continued progress and stability of Oyo State under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Bibire urged the people to disregard what he described as fake news circulating in some quarters, stressing that Governor Seyi Makinde remains the undisputed and number one leader of the party in Oyo State, and called for continued unity and focus on development rather than distractions.
He maintained that political developments at the national level must not overshadow the gains recorded in the state, noting that Gov. Makinde’s administration has continued to amplify governance, strengthen public trust, and maintain a strong connection with the people.
The leading House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Federal Constituency under the umbrella of PDP called on party faithful and the general public to close ranks and sustain their support for the governor, particularly as the party advances its consensus-building process across the state.
According to him, the emergence of consensus candidates gives validity to internal cohesion, strategic alignment, and a collective commitment to delivering credible leadership.
“The people should not be distracted by developments that do not directly affect the progress we are making in Oyo State. What is paramount is our unity and our continued support for Governor Makinde, whose leadership has remained people-oriented and impactful,” he said.
He further noted that the strength of the PDP in Oyo lies in its grassroots appeal and the confidence reposed in it by the electorate, adding that maintaining that trust requires a unified front.
The compassionate politician concluded by urging stakeholders across the state to continue to prioritize cooperation, and collective interest, stressing that sustained support for Governor Makinde and the party’s consensus candidates remains key to consolidating ongoing achievements and bagging electoral success in 2027.
