ADC Screens 1,657 Aspirants, Bars 212 Ahead of Party Primaries

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has concluded its nationwide screening exercise ahead of its primary elections, clearing 1,657 aspirants while disqualifying 212 others.
The process was overseen by the party’s factional National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, and covered all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with a total of 1,869 aspirants participating.
According to the ADC, screening committees were set up across the country in line with the party constitution and electoral guidelines to ensure a fair and transparent process.
The disqualified aspirants included 155 State House of Assembly hopefuls, 50 candidates for the House of Representatives, and seven Senate aspirants, who failed to meet the required criteria.
The party said the disqualifications were due to issues such as discrepancies in dates of birth and academic records, lack of valid party membership cards, and non-compliance with electoral guidelines.
This development comes as political parties across Nigeria ramp up preparations for the 2027 general elections, with primaries expected to determine key alliances and shape the political landscape.
