EPL Roundup: Tottenham Avoid Relegation as West Ham’s 14-Year Stay Ends

Tottenham Hotspur survived a tense final day of the Premier League season on Sunday, securing safety while West Ham’s 14-year run in the top flight came to an end.
Spurs entered their match against Everton knowing that a draw would almost certainly ensure survival, as they were two points clear of West Ham and held a significantly superior goal difference.
Joao Paulinha eased the tension at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just before half-time, poking in a rebound after his header hit the post.
The Portugal midfielder was swarmed by teammates as head coach Roberto De Zerbi sprinted along the touchline to celebrate with jubilant fans in the London sunshine.
Meanwhile, West Ham, then drawing 0-0 with Leeds under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, still needed a favour from Everton even if they won their own game.
Valentin Castellanos briefly offered the Irons hope midway through the second half by putting West Ham ahead at the London Stadium.
However, goals from Jarrod Bowen and Callum Wilson secured a 3-0 win for West Ham at the full-time whistle, but it was insufficient as Spurs held on to their lead and clinched three crucial points.
Tottenham’s recent resurgence under De Zerbi, who joined the club in late March as the team’s third manager of the season, proved decisive in maintaining their Premier League status.
Relegation would have been financially catastrophic for Tottenham, ranked the ninth-richest football club globally, who also won the Europa League last season under former coach Ange Postecoglou.
West Ham, promoted to the Premier League in 2012, will now join Burnley and Wolves in the Championship next season.
Elsewhere, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola bid farewell to the Etihad Stadium after ten years in charge, concluding a decade characterized by multiple Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph, as Aston Villa visited for the final game.
Fans displayed a massive banner reading “Game Changer” and “History Maker,” while smaller banners celebrated the departures of long-serving players John Stones and Bernardo Silva.
Antoine Semenyo gave City the lead, but Ollie Watkins, named in England’s World Cup squad, scored twice to secure fourth place in the Premier League table for his team.
At Anfield, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson enjoyed a festive farewell, with fans displaying banners such as “Thank you legends” and “We Have Gone From Great To Glory. Salah Is Our King,” as Liverpool drew 1-1 to finish fifth in the table.
Ten-man Chelsea suffered a 2-1 defeat at Sunderland, leaving newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso without European football next season, while Sunderland and Bournemouth qualified for the Europa League and Brighton for the Conference League.
At Selhurst Park, champions Arsenal rotated nine players ahead of their Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, receiving a guard of honour from Crystal Palace players before defeating Palace 2-1 and confirming their first league title since 2004.
On the south coast, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes set a new Premier League record with 21 assists in a single season after providing the pass for Patrick Dorgu’s goal in a 3-0 victory over Brighton.
