Journalist Laments APC Silence After Car Was Stolen During Congress

A correspondent of Leadership Newspapers, Khalid Idris Doya, has alleged neglect by the All Progressives Congress (APC) after his vehicle was stolen while covering the party’s State Congress in Bauchi more than three months ago.

The incident reportedly occurred on March 3, 2026, at the APC Next Level Secretariat along Maiduguri Road, where the journalist said he was officially accredited to cover the congress and had parked his vehicle within the premises before it went missing.

“I was officially invited to cover the APC State Congress and I attended the venue with my vehicle,” Doya said.

He explained that the vehicle, a Pontiac Vibe 2004 model with registration number BAU-100HB, was parked between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. before it disappeared in the midst of a large crowd at the event.

“The vehicle was parked within the vicinity of the venue during the congress, but due to the crowd, unknown persons took it away without my knowledge,” he said.

Doya said he immediately reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer of ‘A’ Division in Bauchi and has since been cooperating with security agencies, although the vehicle has not yet been recovered.

He further stated that he informed the APC leadership both verbally and in writing, but claimed that more than three months later, the party has neither expressed public sympathy nor offered any form of support or compensation.
