Israel, Hezbollah Exchange Fire in Southern Lebanon Despite U.S.-Iran Ceasefire Push

Fresh clashes have erupted between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon despite a newly announced U.S.-Iran agreement aimed at reducing regional hostilities and stabilizing tensions across the Middle East.
Israeli forces reportedly intercepted rockets said to have been launched by Hezbollah and responded with airstrikes targeting operatives and vehicles around Kfar Tebnit in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah, in its own statement, claimed responsibility for attacks on Israeli military equipment advancing in the area, including tanks and bulldozers, using missiles and armed drones.
The exchange of fire occurred shortly after reports of a U.S.-Iran agreement facilitated through diplomatic channels involving Pakistan, which was intended to de-escalate tensions and limit attacks by allied armed groups.
Despite these diplomatic efforts, both sides continue to accuse each other of violating existing ceasefire understandings along the Israel-Lebanon border, keeping the situation highly volatile.
Israeli authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded among their forces following the latest round of hostilities.
However, a Lebanese security source reported that an Israeli drone strike killed one person during the escalation, although full details of the incident remain unverified.
The renewed violence comes amid ongoing discussions around security arrangements and buffer zones along the border following an earlier ceasefire framework reached in April.
Analysts warn that repeated ceasefire violations and mutual accusations risk undermining already fragile attempts to restore stability in the region.
The Israel-Hezbollah conflict remains one of the most sensitive flashpoints in the wider Middle East crisis, with recurring exchanges of fire raising fears of a broader regional escalation.
Observers note that the latest clashes further expose the difficulty of sustaining ceasefire arrangements even as diplomatic initiatives continue to progress.
