Oyo Govt Denies Paying Ransom for Abducted Pupils, Calls Report False

The Oyo State Government has denied reports alleging that it paid ransom to secure the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, describing the claim as false and misleading.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the government said the allegation was “far from the truth” and accused “irresponsible bloggers” of spreading misinformation and creating unnecessary public panic.

Oyelade stated that while both the state and federal governments are making sustained efforts to secure the safe return of the abducted children and their teachers, no ransom has been paid either directly or indirectly.

He urged members of the public to disregard the reports and rely only on verified updates from official government communication channels.
