NYSC Issues Fresh Warning To Corps Members Ahead Of Camp Opening

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released fresh guidelines for prospective corps members ahead of the upcoming orientation camp exercise, warning them against night travel and highlighting important registration requirements.
The scheme, in an advisory released through its official communication channels, urged prospective corps members to prioritise their safety while travelling to their assigned orientation camps across the country.
NYSC specifically warned prospective corps members against travelling at night, advising them to plan their journeys properly and ensure they arrive at their respective camps safely.
The scheme said the directive was part of measures aimed at reducing avoidable risks associated with travelling after dark, particularly as thousands of graduates prepare to move to different parts of the country for the mandatory orientation exercise.
Beyond travel safety, NYSC also warned that prospective corps members with discrepancies between the graduation dates on their call-up letters and their statements of results would not be registered at the orientation camps.
The scheme advised affected candidates to resolve such issues with their institutions’ Student Affairs Officers before reporting to camp to avoid registration challenges.
NYSC further reminded prospective corps members to complete all required documentation before arriving at camp, including printing, signing and submitting the necessary registration forms during the registration process.
The scheme also restated guidelines for candidates seeking correction of their dates of birth, directing them to follow the approved correction process through their NYSC dashboards and provide the required verification details.
The orientation camp exercise remains the first major phase of the one year national service programme, where prospective corps members undergo registration, physical training, lectures and other activities before deployment to their places of primary assignment.
NYSC urged all prospective corps members to rely on official information from the scheme and avoid falling victim to individuals promising illegal assistance with registration, deployment or other service related processes.
The scheme said adherence to the guidelines would help ensure a smooth registration process and a safer experience for graduates beginning their national service journey.
