SA Security Bibire, Visits Correctional Service, Fire Service, Immigration, Seeks Stronger Partnership

The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security, Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro Bibire, on Thursday continued his visits to security and allied agencies in Oyo State with courtesy visits to the Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Fire Service and Nigerian Immigration Service in Ibadan.

The visits were a continuation of measures to establish direct working relationships with the various agencies, understand their challenges firsthand and identify areas where the state government and his office could provide support to improve security and public safety.

The development came on the heels of his earlier visits to Operation Burst and the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, OYRTMA, on Wednesday.

The Oyo Security Adviser commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his leadership and commitment towards strengthening the security architecture of Oyo State, noting that the governor’s support and proactive approach have continued to provide the needed backing for security agencies to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

At the Nigerian Correctional Service, Bibire met with the Comptroller and other senior officers of the service, where they discussed the work of the agency and matters relating to the welfare of its personnel.

Bibire said his visit was also an opportunity to hear directly from the officers and understand what his office could do to support their work.

He commended the officers for their service and assured them that he would take up matters requiring the attention of the state government.

Bibire also inspected parts of the Agodi facility and listened to concerns raised during the visit before assuring the officers that the relevant issues would be addressed.

At the Federal Fire Service, Bibire commended the officers for their work in responding to fire emergencies and said effective fire prevention and emergency response remain important to the protection of lives and property.

He said fire safety is also a security matter because fire incidents can result in loss of lives and property, adding that there must be synergy between the Fire Service and other agencies.

The officers welcomed the visit and discussed areas where support would help them carry out their duties more effectively.

At the Nigerian Immigration Service, Bibire met with the state command and discussed the role of the service in keeping the state safe.

The Comptroller of Immigration in Oyo State, CIS Ephraim Ogbemudia, welcomed him and expressed the readiness of the command to work with the Special Adviser and other security agencies.

Bibire, however, assured the service of his willingness to support its needs within available means.

Polity Reporters reports that the engagements come as part of Bibire’s continued efforts to strengthen ties with security and allied agencies so as to build on the strong working relationship amongst them and ensure the wheels of collaboration continue to turn smoothly.
