PDP Picks Turaki To Chair Interim NWC

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, has appointed a 13-member interim National Working Committee (NWC) for the party.

The decision follows the recent Supreme Court ruling that upheld the nullification of the Ibadan Convention.

This ruling created a leadership vacuum within the party, prompting the BoT to take action.

Tanimu Turaki, the former National Chairman, will lead the newly appointed interim NWC.

The decision was made during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held by the Tanimu Turaki faction of the PDP.

The meeting took place at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Key party figures present included Governor Seyi Makinde, former Minister of Special Duties Tanimu Turaki, former Governor of Niger State Babangida Muazu, former Minister of Information Professor Jerry Gana, Senator Adolphus Wabara, and former Minister of Women Affairs Zainab Maina.

The group emphasized that the Abuja convention, which produced the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led NWC of the PDP, is null and void.

They also insisted that according to the PDP constitution, a caretaker committee should be established whenever there is a leadership vacuum.

The group called upon the Board of Trustees, led by Adolphus Wabara, to fulfill this responsibility.
