Mother’s Day: Fagbenro-Bibire Celebrates Oyo First Lady, Lauds Makinde Over Women Empowerment

Retired United States Navy veteran and unparalleled humanitarian, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, has celebrated the First Lady of Oyo State, Her Excellency Mrs Tamunominini Makinde, for her constant support to Governor Seyi Makinde, her care for the children, and her commitment to improving the lives of the good people of Oyo State, most especially women and children, which is evident in how they have been included in the grand schemes of governance and development across the state.
He also used the occasion to honour his mother for her steadfast care and guidance, describing her as a moral compass in his family and the source of the values that have guided his life and career, and communicated profound gratitude for the love, discipline, and encouragement she has always provided.
Bibire further celebrated his wife, noting that her tireless efforts in managing the home, raising the children, and standing by him in his public service has been essential, while also confessing her as the foundation for both his personal and professional achievements.
This was as he saluted all mothers across the globe for their sacrifices, resilience, and unflinching commitment to their families and the society at large.
The compassionate politician, in his message commemorating the 2026 Mothers’ Day celebration, stated that mothers remain the pillars of every home and the driving force behind a peaceful and progressive society.
Bibire noted that mothers continue to carry the weight of responsibilities both at home and in the workplace, keeping body and soul together for their families while contributing meaningfully to societal growth and development.
According to him, “I heartily congratulate our women and mothers on the occasion of this year’s Mothers’ Day celebration.
“And as we celebrate this consequential day, I want to tip my hat to the many important women in my life, from the First Lady of Oyo State, Her Excellency Mrs Tamunominini Makinde, to my mother, my wife, and countless others whose support and encouragement have been my rock, my anchor, and the wind beneath my wings, and for whom words can never fully capture my gratitude.
“There is no gainsaying that mothers are the bedrock of every family and the backbone of society, and their resilience, patience, and strength deserve appreciation and honour at all times,” he said.
He added, “The unconditional love, sacrifice, and commitment shown by mothers towards the growth of their families and society remain immeasurable, and their efforts should never be swept under the carpet.”
Bibire further appreciated mothers for their ability to wear many hats at the same time while ensuring stability within their homes and supporting economic growth through different productive engagements.
“I want to specially commend all mothers for the crucial role they continue to play in holding families together, raising responsible children, building businesses, and contributing to sustainable development in society,” he noted.
Bibire, who hails from Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Federal Constituency, expressed pride in the exceptional mothers across the federal constituency and Oyo State in general.
This was as he applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for sustaining policies and programmes directed at improving the welfare of women and their families.
Bibire stated that Governor Seyi Makinde has continued to set the pace in women inclusion, empowerment, and family centred governance, adding that leaders across the country should take a leaf out of his book.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has consistently demonstrated strong commitment towards women empowerment and family welfare through practical policies and programmes that continue to improve lives across Oyo State,” he maintained.
He added that he would continue to contribute his quota towards improving access to quality healthcare, education, and other basic necessities needed for the wellbeing of women and families in Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Federal Constituency and Oyo State at large.
“As I have always done within my capacity, I will remain committed to supporting initiatives that improve healthcare, education, and the general wellbeing of mothers and families because a society that cares for women is laying a solid foundation for a better future,” he stated.
Bibire, however, urged women across the state to continue supporting the continuity of the Omi-tuntun agenda, noting that Omi-tuntun 3.0 would open more doors of opportunities and development for women in Oyo State.
“If the people of Oyo State truly desire continuity in people centred governance and expanded opportunities for women, then supporting the Omituntun 3.0 agenda remains a step in the right direction,” he said.
He also prayed that all mothers would continue to reap the fruits of their labour, enjoy peace and happiness in their homes, and live long to witness the success and greatness of their children and families.
