VeryDarkMan Criticizes Presidency Over Alleged Fake Tinubu Audio

Popular Nigerian social media critic and influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has criticized the Presidency following allegations that he shared an AI-generated audio clip purportedly featuring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The controversy arose after the Presidency announced plans to prosecute Otse for allegedly circulating the clip, which contains a voice mimicking the President claiming that insecurity in Nigeria persists because citizens did not vote for him in the 2023 elections.

The situation escalated when an X user, @Pious_minister, alleged that the AI-generated audio was included in one of VDM’s videos.

In response, VeryDarkMan posted a video on his social media platforms, sharply criticizing presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, whom he described as “stupid” and “daft.”

“I am not trying to insult you, but look at the meaning of stupid — that is what you represent,” Otse said.

He added, “I swear to God, you are so daft, and this is why I said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not come back in 2027, because those operating under him do not use their brains.”

VDM also made it clear that he would not defend the controversial AI clip.

“You see this audio? I will not defend it. You should be ashamed,” he declared.

The activist further raised concerns about the government’s handling of security issues, highlighting the recent abduction of teachers and students in Oyo State.

He claimed that one of the kidnapped teachers, who was carrying an infant, was reportedly beheaded while the other victims remain in captivity.

“Bandits attacked a school in Oyo State, taking three teachers — one man, two women — and several students.

One teacher had an infant with her. A few days later, reports emerged that she had been beheaded,” Otse said.

He questioned the silence of government officials, asking, “Bayo Onanuga, where is your comment on this? As I speak today, it is Children’s Day, yet these children are still in an unknown location.”

The remarks come amid heightened tensions between the Nigerian government and social media influencers over the spread of alleged misinformation and AI-generated content.

The Presidency has confirmed it will pursue legal action against VDM in connection with the disputed presidential audio clip.
